                                        FOR RELEASE BETWEEN

            Thursday, November 29, 2018 and Friday, December 28, 2018

As a part of the City of Shasta Lake’s ongoing sanitary sewer system maintenance program, the City will be cleaning and inspecting portions of the City’s sanitary sewer system between the dates listed above.

The cleaning process involves using high-pressure water to remove sediment, grease, and debris from sanitary sewer mains in preparation for internal video inspection work.  In low-lying areas, and in older homes that lack conventional sewer vents, this cleaning work may result in ‘toilet bubbling’.  This phenomenon results in small amounts of water and air being forced back up sewer laterals from the main line into toilet bowls.  To avoid issues during the cleaning process, residents are advised to keep their toilet seats down when not in use.

As this work is performed from manhole to manhole along various City streets, motorists are advised to be on the lookout for temporary traffic control and construction vehicles, and to drive carefully in the vicinity of this and all work zones.  The patience and cooperation of motorists, pedestrians, and homeowners in the vicinity of the work zone is greatly appreciated.
