"New" City Hall and Community Center Project
The City of Shasta Lake is underway with the planning for the City Hall/Community Center project, building upon the vast information developed during the 3 years of planning and public information phases.
The City Council, based upon recommendations from the Public Facility Committee, requested that staff prepare a funding plan, procure a design/build team to design and construct a new City Hall and Community Center for the City of Shasta Lake.
The City is soliciting for the Design Build team
through a Request for Qualifications and Proposal RFQ&P.
The current concept for the project envisions a 9,000-10,000 SF City Hall facility and a 8,000-9,000 SF Community Center to house meeting and banquet facilities. Two conceptual site plans have been developed (see Attachment A); however, the Project Team shall not be constrained by either conceptual site plan during the design phase, and shall prepare preliminary site layout alternatives that best utilize the existing site and topography in the most economical way, while minimizing impacts above and beyond those listed in the existing Initial Study and Mitigated Negative Declaration. Consideration shall be made for the future expansion of both civic facilities (up to 28,000 SF for the City Hall and 20,200 SF for the Community Center), and space shall be preserved for the future construction of a facility to house a library, historical society, and potentially other uses. The Council Chambers is anticipated to remain in the Law Enforcement Center, and not be included in the City Hall building. The general design character and colors of the project shall mimic the existing onsite building.
This is an exciting process and one with many opportunities for your input and involvement. Please continue to check this site for project updates.
