Salary: Compensation up to $125,000 annual, plus an excellent benefit package including CalPERS retirement (2% at age 60 PERS retirement plan “Classic” members or 2% at age 62 for new PERS retirement plan PEPRA members), 20 days paid time-off accrual allowance each year for first four years (increases with length of service), 10 days of sick leave accrual per year, and 10 paid holidays per year. The City pays a portion of the monthly premiums for health, dental, and vision benefits, The City also offers long and short term disability plans and a life insurance policy at no cost to employees.
Description:
The City of Shasta Lake is pleased to begin recruiting for a full-time Finance Director.

We are seeking a skilled, hands-on Finance Director to plan, organize, manage, and direct the fiscal, HR and administrative functions of the Department.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional well versed in Federal, State, and Local laws. It is essential the selected individual know governmental accounting, principles of budgeting and revenue enhancement, and budget preparation and forecasting.  Strong customer service and utilities background is highly desired.

The City seeks an individual who will excel in developing and mentoring staff and building an effective work team. The selected candidate will be a leader and a motivator, encouraging quality and customer service oriented work.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or ability required.

Bachelor degree in finance/accounting or closely related field.

At least five years’ experience in management and seven years significant accounting experience, preferably in city government.
Ability to coordinate preparation of complex financial documents.
Plans, organizes, and prioritize work for department.
Attends City Council meetings as required.
Ability to communicate effectively, excellent verbal and writing skills.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Master’s degree in business and/or CPA license.
