The City of Shasta Lake recently awarded the Street Improvements 2022 project to Tullis Inc. and construction will begin in April. This project is funded through the SB1 Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Program as well as previously budgeted General Funds.
The City prioritizes road maintenance based on a scoring criteria called Pavement Condition Index (PCI). This scoring system assigns a value based deterioration from fatigue (loading from vehicles) and age. The roads included for this year's project were selected by PCI, then by geographical area for constructability.
Due to resource constraints, only roads which have existing pavement will be paved. Existing dirt or gravel roads are not candidates for the pavement preservation program.
